Welcome to Mysthica (and My Madness!)

A cozy fantasy writer's desk

Hello friend, welcome!

I can’t quite believe I’m writing this, but… this is my very first blog post on my brand-new author website. If you’re reading this, thank you. Whether you stumbled in by chance or arrived here on purpose, I’m truly glad you’re here.

This space has been a dream of mine for a long time. Not just the website, but the entire journey: becoming an author, sharing my stories, connecting with readers and fellow dreamers. And now, somehow, that dream is taking its first wobbly steps into the real world, one blog post, one reel, one late-night word sprint at a time.

The Journey Begins (with Social Media, Music and a Little Chaos)

Over the past few weeks, I’ve officially launched my author presence on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter/X. Which means… I’m learning a lot very quickly.

  • How to edit short videos?
  • How to find royalty-free music that doesn’t sound like a medieval tavern meets elevator jazz? Still working on it.
  • How to express something meaningful in under 30 seconds without spiraling into perfectionist paralysis? Definitely a work in progress 😅

It’s been awkward and chaotic, but also kind of magical because I’m realizing that creativity doesn’t stop at the edge of the page. It spills into reels, captions, posts, comments. Into the way we show up, share and connect. It’s storytelling, too, just with a different kind of pen.

Why Fantasy (and Why This Blog)?

This blog isn’t just here to talk about my book (though don’t worry, we’ll get there). It’s here to share the journey, the real one.

  • The 11 p.m. writing sessions after my daughters fall asleep.
  • The quiet victories. The mess. The occasional full-scale meltdowns.
  • Trying to build a fantasy world while juggling motherhood, full-time work and postgrad studies isn’t glamorous, but it’s real. And I think that matters.

For me, fantasy has always been more than escapism; it’s been survival. It gave me a place to go when the world felt too loud, too heavy, or too broken. It gave me magic when I had none. It reminded me that even in the darkest of forests, there’s always a path forward, lit by courage, kindness and maybe the glow of something ancient and strange.

I write fantasy not just to tell stories, but to build doors. For others like me; for those quietly navigating anxiety, burnout, grief, neurodivergence, trauma, or the general madness of being a human in this world.

Stories are how we make sense of pain. They’re how we find hope again. And if anything I write can offer that, to even one person, then all of this will have been worth it.

What’s Next?

In the weeks ahead, I’ll be sharing:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at my debut novel, Clyphs of Arcane
  • Honest thoughts on creativity, resilience and finding time for magic in chaotic lives
  • Updates, sneak peeks and probably some embarrassing TikTok mishaps
  • And, if you listen closely, some whispers and breadcrumbs from Mysthica, the world that’s been living in my heart for years

Join Me?

If you're on Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter/X, come say hi! I’d love to connect with you, hear your story and invite you into mine.

Because this isn’t just a blog, this is a sanctuary for dreamers, strugglers, storytellers; for those building something from scratch and saying, “I have no idea what I’m doing... but I’m doing it anyway.”

This is the start of something much bigger.

Thanks for being here. The adventure begins.

With wonder and madness,
Diana Ravenscroft
